Bahrain Mirror: The Fourth High Criminal Court decided to adjourn the case of nine Bahrainis between the ages of 20 and 28, prosecuted on charges of setting fire to the tires on the highway in Nuwaidrat, until the April 26 hearing to brief the defendants on a copy of the case file.
The authorities claim that they received a report stating that there was an assembly near the Nuwaidrat area, so the police headed to the gathering site and found a group of youths setting fire to tires with Molotov cocktails, placing them on Route 77 and pouring combustible liquids with purpose of endangering citizens' lives and disrupting public security.
Human rights groups challenge the events attributed to the defendants due to doubts about the independence of the Bahraini judiciary, whose members are appointed by royal decrees, and since rulings are based on confessions extracted under torture and evidence obtained from secret investigations and anonymous witnesses.
