Bahrain Mirror: The spiritual leader of the Shiite majority in Bahrain, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, has returned to his home, where he has been held under house arrest for 325 days, according to sources close to his family.
Ayatollah Qasim was transferred by his family to a private hospital on Wednesday (April 11, 2018) after suffering from white water in his eyes and pain in his knees, according to sources close to his family, where he underwent examinations and later returned to his home.
Activists posted pictures of Ayatollah Qasim in a wheelchair as he was leaving hospital yesterday.
On Thursday (April 12th), activists published pictures of the intensified security siege around the house of Qassim, by interior ministry forces, who set up more concrete barriers.
Ayatollah Qassem has been subject to house arrest since May 23, 2017. After government forces cracked down on a peaceful sit-in outside his house and cleared it by force, five protestors were killed, dozens injured and about 300 detainees arrested, according to figures released by the Interior Ministry at the time.
