Bahrain Mirror: The head of the terrorist crimes prosecution office, Attorney-General Ahmad Al-Hammadi, stated that investigations have been concluded into the case involving the formation of a "terrorist group" [...] that he claims committed crimes including "the attempted murder of a police officer, attempted smuggling of convicted persons, possession of weapons, ammunition and explosives, receiving training and training others on the use of explosives and weapons and funding the terrorist group. Eighteen defendants have been referred to the competent court, including seven accused imprisoned persons.

The prosecution charged them with organizing and managing a terrorist group in violation of the provisions of the law, joining the group, funding it, attempting to murder police officers, acquiring and having possession of explosives, weapons and ammunition, training on the use of weapons and explosives for terrorist purposes and attempting to smuggle convicted persons on terrorist charges. The hearing of the case was set for April 23 before the Fourth High Criminal Court.

The authorities claim that the defendants formed a group linked to the "Saraya Al-Mukhtar" Brigade to carry out operations targeting the security forces, and planned to smuggle wanted persons, in addition to other charges of training, use and transfer of weapons and explosives.

Human rights groups challenge the incidents attributed to the defendants due to doubts regarding the independence of the Bahraini judiciary, whose members are appointed by royal decrees, since rulings are issued based on confessions extracted under torture, as well as evidence from secret investigations and anonymous witnesses
