Bahrain Mirror: Germany has called for further constructive steps, commenting on the Bahraini authorities' commuting of the death sentence issued against four Bahraini dissidents accused by the authorities of attempting to assassinate the commander of the Bahrain Defense Force (BDF).
German Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid Bärbel Kofler said in a statement that she welcomes the Bahrain King's order to commute to life imprisonment the death sentence handed down to four convicts upheld by the Court of Cassation. She further noted that the German government hopes that following this decision more constructive steps will be taken by all for the sake of peaceful coexistence.
Germany is working with its European Union partners to abolish and criminalize the death penalty- in all circumstances and across the world, she said.
