Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Shura Council, whose members are appointed by the King, approved the bankruptcy bill on Sunday (April 29, 2018), before referring it to the King for ratification.
The law, which consists of 195 articles, was submitted by the Cabinet as an urgent matter to the legislative authority. Deputy Speaker Jamal Fakhro said that he did not see any justification for submitting it as a matter of urgency.
"The law is very important and can not be passed in 15 days without careful study," Fakhro added.
"We cannot wait for the next legislative term to present the law and we do not know when it will be concluded," said Justice Minister Khalid bin Ali, addressing the Council, which as a result approved the bill.
