Bahrain Mirror: The High Appeals Criminal Court commuted a verdict issued against suspect, accused of taking part in an assembly and attacking a policeman while attempting to arrest him [suspect] from the assembly place, from 3 years in prison to 2 years, and upheld a one-year jail term against another suspect over assembly charge.

The authorities claim that the 2 suspects gathered, along with other unknowns, in an assembly, aiming at disrupting public peace. However, they were dispersed by the policemen. One of the policemen followed the 2 suspects until he caught them. Once the policeman arrested the first suspect, the later resisted him and punched him in his face. The policeman could finally arrest the suspect with the help of another policeman.

The Public Prosecution accused the first suspect of attacking on May 20, 2017, the bodily integrity of a public peace member, while and for performing his job. The prosecution accused the 2 suspects of taking part in an assembly of more than 5 persons, aiming at disrupting peace.
