Bahrain Mirror: Bahraini activist Ali Mushaima said that Bahraini Embassy in London lied about the health situation of his father, prominent dissident Hasan Mushaima, and about saying that he receives the very best medical care in jail.
Ali said that fellow inmates of his father Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja and Sheikh Mirza Al-Mahroous revealed that his father and his fellow prominent dissident Abdulwahab Hussein suffer high blood sugar.
He further stated that his father's life is in danger, dubbing the embassy's statement as shameless and a complete collapse of humanity.
For her part, human rights activist Ibtisam Al-Saegh said she received worrying news from detained activist Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja revealing the health deterioration of detained activists Hasan Mushaima and Abdulwahab Hussein.
Al-Saegh said that this raises concerns that their life is in danger.
Ali Mushaima started a hunger strike on Wednesday (August 1, 2018) in front of the Bahraini embassy in London, demanding to provide treatment to his father, who suffers from cancer and he has been in prison since more than 7 years over leading 14th February protests in 2011. His London-based son, Ali, said that his father is dying slowly, as a result of being deprived from treatment, noting his old age (70 years).
The Bahraini embassy in London issued a statement in response to an inquiry received from a British MP and claimed that he is still receiving the medical care and needed medications. It added: "as with all those in custody in Bahrain, Mushaima has received the very best medical care available."
