Bahrain Mirror: Al-Wefaq former MP Ali Al-Aswad said that "participating in the elections in Bahrain doesn't mean political partnership".
Al-Aswad indicated in tweets he published on his Twitter account that "participating in elections in Bahrain doesn't mean political partnership, as there is a big difference between the government promoting a loose project that was put to the test before to no avail and speaking of the actual participation of the opposition, which is one of the pillars of democracy in constitutional monarchies," stressing that "Al-Wefaq society has taken a decision to boycott the elections for reasons that the world has seen to be objective".
He also confirmed that "the call made by Al-Wefaq to boycott the upcoming elections stems from concern over the higher interest of the nation, as the interest is to start a dialogue with the opposition and to listen to the opinion of the majority of people who call for political partnership and shifting towards the dream of having a constitutional monarchy, whose name is the only thing left now and nothing else."
"The authorities' disregard for the concept of partnership means failure to understand the geopolitics of the region," he said.
Former MP Ali Al-Aswad further noted that "the survival of governments by force, security and militarization will not bring economic stability or anything else. The world is talking about the continuous decline of Bahrain due to lack of a vision and failure to keep pace with changes," adding that "it is clear that the state only depends on aids".
