Bahrain Mirror: The Islamic Organizations in Britain called on the Bahraini authorities to release Sheikh Ali Salman, following the life term sentence issued against him.
The organizations issued a statement today in which they said "On 4th November Sheikh Ali Salman, the opposition leader in Bahrain was sentenced to life imprisonment on false charges of spying on behalf of a foreign government. Sheikh Ali Salman lived in London during many years of exile and is personally known to some of us."
"He stands for tolerance between faiths, for dialogue to heal the divisions in Bahrain and for peaceful coexistence between all communities. The continued detention of Sheikh Ali Salman is an affront to justice," they added.
The organizations called on the Bahraini authorities to release Sheikh Ali Salman and other prisoners of conscious and establish a meaningful dialogue with the opposition as per the recommendations of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry report in November 2011.
The statement was issued by: Imam Al-Khoei Foundation, World Ahlul Bayt Islamic League London, Qadria Jilania Islamic Centre, Oxford Islamic information centre, Leicester Central Mosque, Majlis e Ulama e Shia (Europe) and London Fatwa Council.
