Bahrain Mirror: Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society considered all the sacrifices and the targeting of its men, entity and cadres to be cheap compared to the interest of the nation and all the citizens, pointing to the arrest of its Secretary-General, Sheikh Ali Salman, and a number of its leaders and deputies, and the withdrawal of the nationalities of a number of them, considering that "a sacrifice to Bahrain and its people, with all its components."

It said in a statement on Wednesday (November 7, 2018) marking the anniversary of its establishment in 2001 that "its founding was an extension of more than 100 years of national struggle, defending the rights of citizens, expressing their concerns and caring for their interests."

"Al-Wefaq will remain as it was and will not calm down. It will not retreat in front of the corruption, theft, stealing land and coasts and seizure of state funds and property. It added that the society will not give up on its commitment to peaceful action, civilized movement, inclusive national discourse and the embrace of all visions, projects and national figures." the statement read.

The society stressed that it will continue to fight terrorism and call for besieging it and ending its sources, whether on the level of official terrorism or Takfiri terrorist groups.

Al-Wefaq highlighted that it "has reached out to all national, Islamic and community forces and will always do so for the best, strongest and most stable and harmonized Bahrain."
