Bahrain Mirror: An annual report published by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) on Thursday (December 13, 2018) shows that there are at least 251 journalists in state prisons around the world due to their journalistic work and that Bahrain's prisons include six of them.

The report mentioned the names of six journalists imprisoned in Bahrain: Abdul Jalil Al-Singace, Ahmed Humaidan, Ali Ma'raj, Hassan Qambar, Mahmoud Al-Jaziri and Sayed Ahmad Al-Musawi.

"The terrible global assault on journalists that has intensified in the past few years shows no sign of abating," said Committee to Protect Journalists Executive Director Joel Simon in statement. "It is unacceptable that 251 journalists are in jail around the world just for covering the news."

CPJ's prison census only includes journalists in government custody and excludes those who have disappeared or are held captive by "non-state actors."
