Bahrain Mirror: The High Appeals Court upheld 5-year jail term against 4 political prisoners accused of staging protest in Ras Rumman and burning two cars using Molotov.
The High Criminal Court had issued a 5-year jail verdict against the suspects. The verdict was upheld by the appeals court, however, the suspects challenged the ruling in the cassation court, which accepted the challenge and returned the case to the appeals court. However, the appeals court upheld the first-instance court ruling for the second time.
The Public Prosecution accused the suspects of deliberately setting, along with others, two cars to fire on December 18, 2014, taking part, along with other unknowns, in an assembly and acquiring Molotov.
The Bahraini authorities were widely convicted of forcing political detainees to make confessions under duress and torture, which made international bodies and human rights organizations consider their trials lack the fair trial conditions.
