After Beirut Explosion, Bahrain Forms Committee to Ensure Storage Mechanism of Dangerous Substances

Bahrain Mirror: One week after Beirut's Port explosion, Bahraini announced the formation of a committee to list dangerous substances, their storage sites and inspection mechanisms.
Interior Minister Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa issued a decision to form a committee to be chaired by the Director-General of Civil Defence and membership of representatives from concerned directorates. The panel will list dangerous substances, their storage sites and inspection mechanisms.
The committee will also ensure commitment to related precautionary measures from the arrival of the substances to the Kingdom's ports to their stores away from urban areas.
The decision also includes assigning the committee to review transportation and storage conditions and all applied procedures in this regards to ensure ultimate safety standards for all.
The high explosive "ammonium nitrate" contributed to the explosion of the Beirut' Port, which claimed the lives of more than 171 people and injured over 6,000. Most of the Lebanese capital's suburbs were damaged as a result of the massive explosion.
