Interior Minister: There Are No Cases of Coronavirus in Jaw Prison, We Haven't Cut Contact between Prisoners and their Families

Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Minister of Interior, Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, denied on Thursday (April 22, 2021) "the presence of any current cases of the Coronavirus," in Jaw Central Prison, during a meeting with MPs Kaltham Al-Hayeki and Hisham Al-Asheri.
The Minister claimed that "contact between inmates and their families is in place and have not been cut off. Some inmates, who have had legal measures taken against them due to blocking corridors between wards and disrupting the services prescribed for others, have refrained from contacting their families with the intention of creating a negative situation."
The Minister talked with the two MPs about "expanding the implementation of the alternative penal code, as well as discussing the implementation of the open prison experience," and said that there is a proposal being studied "that includes economic projects, in which inmates can work and make earnings during the period of their sentence, in accordance with the set conditions. "
