Bahrain Mirror: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh described the Bahraini authorities’ reception of Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid as a “humiliating step”, considering that this reception comes “against the will of the public opinion of the noble and free Bahraini people.”
He added that Tehran believes that any scheme to bolster Israel’s destructive presence in the region would create tension and destabilize security in the region more.
“It is unfortunate that Bahrain’s rulers ignore the Zionist regime’s daily crimes against the oppressed but resilient people of Palestine,” Khatibzadeh said.
The Iranian official went on to say that these measures will not give legitimacy to the Zionist entity and will not affect the issue of Al-Quds liberation.
He noted that “this stain will not be erased from the reputation of Bahrain's rulers,” stressing that “The people of the region will continue to oppose the process of normalization of ties with the Zionist regime."
Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid arrived in Manama yesterday, Thursday, in the first of kind visit of an Israeli official after the U.S.-sponsored agreement to normalize relations between the two parties, which was concluded last year.
The visit of the Israeli Minister to Manama coincided with the operation of the Bahraini Gulf Air company a shipping line to Tel Aviv.
The Gulf Air plane took off from Manama Airport to Tel Aviv, an hour after the arrival of the Israeli Foreign Minister Lapid.
