Bahrain says it has arrested 25 suspected members of a terror group allegedly backed by Iran on the island nation.

Bahrain said Saturday that it had arrested 25 suspects accused of involvement in unrest in the Sunni-ruled kingdom, including a deadly jailbreak.

The Office of Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Americans for Democracy & Human Rights in Bahrain (ADHRB) hosted a panel at the Russell US Senate Office Building on the sixth anniversary of Bahrain’s pro-democracy uprising.

Bahrain’s scholars said on Tuesday (February 28, 2017) that the public prosecution’s demand to issue the harshest sentences against Shiite leader Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim for performing one of the sect’s rituals “threatens the sect and targets its rituals and beliefs.”

Bahrain’s High Criminal Court set March 14 as a date to issue its verdict in Sheikh Isa Qassim’s case.

The High Appeals Criminal Court presided over by judge Mohammad Bin Ali Al Khalifa, and Naji Abdullah as Secretariat, issued its sentence in the appeals of 7 defendants over case of “February 14 coalition”. The court handed down 3-year jail term instead of 5 to 5 suspects, upheld 10-year jail term issued against a suspect, rejected the appeal of a suspect.

Demonstrators clashed with police in the Bahraini capital and neighboring Shiite villages on Tuesday, the sixth anniversary of anti-government protests that were brutally suppressed by the authorities, witnesses said.

Eyewitnesses said that the security authorities raided the house of Shiite cleric Sheikh Mohammad Saleh Al-Qashaami and arrested him along with his son "Abu Al-Fadel" and daughter.

The Bahraini authorities released on Friday (February 3, 2017) Sheikh Mohammad Al-Shahabi after spending 6 months in prison over taking part in Diraz protest held against the decision that revoked the citizenship of the highest religious leader, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim.

Former Secretary-General of the National Democratic Action Society (Wa’ad) told Al-Wasat newspaper that “besieging Diraz since more than 200 days is a painful to residents of Diraz, whom we applaud their patience and determination to continue living their lives.”

Akhbar Al-Khaleej newspaper that has close ties with the Bahraini authorities said that the identities of the armed members who attacked Diraz yesterday are still unknown. It is to mention that a youth sustained a bullet in his head and was admitted to the hospital after forces attacked Diraz square.

Bahraini regime security forces raided the open protest site held in Diraz at around 3 am, a scene similar to that which took place 6 years ago at the dawn of the bloody Thursday (February 17, 2011).

Security forces wearing black ski masks clashed with protesters near the home of a prominent Shiite cleric in Bahrain early Thursday, activists said.

French and French speaking newspapers reported the execution of Sami Mushaima, Abbas Al-Samie and Ali Al-Singace.

Police in Bahrain used tear gas and buckshot Wednesday to disperse protesters who took to the streets following prayers for three Shiites executed over a deadly bombing, witnesses said.

Commenting on the death sentence issued against him, Abbas Al-Samie’ stressed: “It is mere ink on paper since it was issued by a court that lacks justice and integrity.”

Bahraini clerics deemed the verdict that upheld the 9-year jail term against opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman an imprisonment of opposing political activism and condemnation of national peace, bearing the British government “responsible for supporting the Bahraini regime in delving into the security option.”
