Sheikh Maytham Al-Salman said in an interview with French newspaper Le Monde, said that issuing a verdict convicting Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, the supreme Shiite authority in Bahrain, would exacerbate the rage of the Shiite majority.

The fourth high criminal court decided in its Sunday (May 7, 2017) session to postpone the verdict issuance in the case of Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, and members of his office Sheikh Hussein Al-Mahrous and Mirza Al-Dirazi until May 21. They are tried over charges linked to collecting money without a license.

Dozens of protests took to the streets across Bahrain on the eve of the trial held for Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, the country’s most prominent Shiite leader. It is expected that a local court issues a verdict against him tomorrow Sunday.

Al-Wefaq Secretary General Sheikh Ali Salman called on the Bahraini authorities to "rationalize" in reference to the verdict expected to be issued tomorrow Sunday in the case raised against Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim.

82 clerics residing in Britain issued a statement in which they urged the Government of Bahrain to stop the trial of Sheikh Isa Qassim, the most prominent religious leader for Shia in the country.

Bahraini scholar and preacher of Imam al-Sadiq Mosque in Manama, Sayed Abdullah Al Ghuraifi believed that “the case of Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim put the country in front of a very difficult turn.”

Senior Bahraini clerics stressed that they continue to demand constitutional guarantees that protect family law, an issue not yet made available.
